Remember when I told you about Sortlist about 3 months ago? I promised you that day that I would do a Sortlist review for you. And so, it's time! But before I tell you how I feel, I want you to understand why I started this platform.
Secondly, I had a lot of work to do, which did not allow me to prospect for new clients. As you probably know, prospecting takes a lot of time! You have to call all the time, set up appointments, do research... So I wanted to sign up on a platform that would save me all that work, and in my opinion, Sortlist really looked like the one for me!
Secondly, I want to take on bigger projects without having to shout from the rooftops that I'm the right webdesigner. But not only big projects; I also want it to last. I want to be more stable, and thus, have long-term projects, continuous projects (as soon as one ends, another one should start, and so on).
Ads are a good idea, but ads mean extra expenses. It's true that I'm already working on the SEO of my site, but it takes time to really work. So, if I want faster results, I obviously need to get into ads (on Facebook, on Google, etc.). But I think Sortlist is faster than that ;)
Finally, the fifth reason that motivated me: I want to discover new things, specifically, the world of agencies (most of the clients we attract on Sortlist are agencies).
When I first signed up for Sortlist, I had taken the free plan. And yet, I was able to win two projects! So I thought, if I spend nothing and can have such opportunities, what about when I sign up for the paid plan?
That's when I signed up for the paid plan. But like me, you don't have to subscribe to a paid plan at first. Start with the free plan instead, the time to get familiar with the platform for example (don't worry, there's no rush).
What happened when I switched to the paid plan? Everything went well :) I must admit that the first month was not the best. The project I was offered was not really interesting (at least, for my taste). However, in the second month, I had about 4 opportunities! And there, I can say that they were quite interesting.
I'm still talking about opportunities here, but not signed contracts. All of this is to say that signing up for Sortlist is an investment. Your real goal should be to attract leads (but not necessarily customers). In my field, for example, I have over 900 competitors. 900 providers offer the same service as me. In my opinion, Sortlist will pay off in the end (as will all other investments).
There is a YouTube video in which I describe this at the bottom of the article. Support me by subscribing to the YouTube channel "Happy Desk Design".
Want to showcase your profile on Sortlist? Then do what I do:
After two months, more famous brands contacted me :) I remind you again: there is nothing to win so far (no contract signed), but I'm making progress. The concept is the same for all methods. If you make ads, they won't bring you customers right away, you have to be patient.
When there are opportunities, you receive notifications from Sortlist. If you're interested in these opportunities, you have your potential client's contact information at your disposal. You call them or send them an email (your quote), and that's it :) All you have to do is wait.
Conclusion
In the end, here's my Sortlist review: I like it! It is practical. Although you won't get any assignments right away, you'll get a lot of leads. If you really want to get results, I advise you to fill out your profile well (as I showed earlier).
